Hey ya!!!

How was your summer holiday this year? Did you have much fun? I bet some of you ‘roasted’ themselves under the hot sun of some exotic destination. 😉

As for me.. I had really relaxing and quiet holiday. This year for summer holiday I decided to follow my partner in crime and her family to Sardinia. I was their guest for 11 days at this very rustic holiday estate near Porto Rotondo, North of Sardinia. It was my first time on this side of the island and alone (without my man). 😦

The name of the place we stayed is Casa Edisa; the venue was out of the main road and away from  other villas or resorts. It was so quiet, serene and a perfect place for one to have a relaxing holiday and get away from all the madness in a city. I love the smell of Helichrysum, the aromatic plants around the place that released their fragrance stored in the oil glands of their leaves into the air. That’s what I call, HEAVEN ON EARTH! 🙂

Here are some of the photos of the beautiful place where I spent my Sardinian retreat.

Rocking my baju kurung with my cookies. ;-)

Rocking my baju kurung with my cookies. 😉

Hari Raya Aidilfitri is celebrated by all Muslims throughout the world to mark the end of the month of Ramadhan, a month of fasting and consecration. After 30 days of dawn-to-dusk fasting during Ramadan, the first three days of Hari Raya Aidilfitri are celebrated on a grand scale back in Malaysia.

All Malaysians welcome this as a time to enjoy good traditional Malay food. This year most of my Malay friends have gone back to Malaysia to celebrate  Hari Raya with their families and friends. I’m stuck in Italy!!! So I decided to celebrate my Hari Raya with the Italian neighbours. Who do not have a clue about what Hari Raya is.

I organized an Open House last Saturday for all my neighbours to enjoy and to experience how we Malaysian celebrate Hari Raya or Eid Fitri. I prepared everything on my own, rice cube, tomato rice, roti jala, veal rendang, kuah lontong, fried chicken, chicken curry and 4 types of cookies (london almond, biskut dahlia, almond cookies and coconut macaroon).  It took me 2 days to prepare the whole meal and 2 days just for the cookies.  Don’t get all excited and think ‘Oh my god she’s so diligent’ in the matter of fact I missed my family and friends back in Malaysia. Rather than dwell on it, might as well I move my skinny ass to organize this festive season with all the festivities food.

I wore my traditional dress, baju kurung, which I bought 2 years ago in Kuala Lumpur. It’s a sort of caftan paired with a skirt called sarong, cotton cream material with blue print on it and with beads and pearls.

It was a magical evening! My neighbours and all the other invited guests all complimented me for the food, the dress and the atmosphere that I contributed to create.

Check out the video. Enjoy!

It’s a date night with my man! We went to a thai restaurant – Thai Orchidee, Bardolino. Love the place it’s wild, natural with romantic set up. PERFECT for our date night!

I wore a simple electric blue lycra jumpsuit. Jumpsuit, they are one of the difficult fashion pieces to wear, yet designers are adamant in recreating them in different silhouettes, colours, textures and patterns, season after season. The jumpsuit just won’t go away. The trick to pulling off the jumpsuit is all about the cut of the piece, as well as how you accessorize it.

Desenzano

Desenzano

Peschiera del Garda

On our way to Desenzano we made a quick stop at Peschiera del Garda

Tuesday afternoon me and my new partner in crime, Katia decided to explore Desenzano town for some retail therapy – as what she said. It was a hot day so we left the house a little bit later in the afternoon. We drove along the lakeside so our view just breathtakingly beautiful! I felt blessed to live in one of the most beautiful area in Italy.

Once we got to Desenzano, both of us were so excited like small children just looking at the shops. Desenzano is a popular holiday destination. It attracts myriads of tourists from all over the world owing to its beautiful view of the Alps from the southern shore of Lake Garda. This is the heart of nightlife of Lake Garda area, with several discos and pubs. At the heart of the town is a series of interconnected piazza that has numerous open-air cafés, various shops, gelateria (ice-cream parlours) and bars. The ambience totally different if you compare with Lake Garda that belong to Verona region (eastern side). Here, it’s lively, fun, chic and they have an interesting varity of shops.

While walking and checking out the shop windows, I came across this little book shop and saw a pop-up handbags book on display. Went in and asked the lady about the book, pointing at the direction of the window display ‘Hi! Can I have a look at that book? The one with the pop-up handbags,’ with my excitement child tone. She went to take the book. OMG!!!! I have to own this book – the first thing came up to my mind. Checked the price and it’s only EUR20.00!!!!!! Took out my wallet and paid the lady. I felt like winning the lottery. I know it sound silly especially to my man. If he were around I will get a kick on my bum. hahaha… He will never ever understand me when come to things like this. I get excited over small things like…. price tag below EUR20 and SALE sign. Again… I’m just a woman, what more can i say?! :p

We continued walking around the town and make few stops at some of the cool shops. By now most of the shops were closing down. We got what we wanted, took more photos and we settled down at one of the pizzeria for dinner looking over the lake. Pizza was good and most of all my companion for that evening was the highlight of my day. Oh and not to forget my ‘Bags to Love’ purchased! 😉

Last Friday my neighbour, Katia organized a birthday party for her 5 years old son in the garden of they’re Lake Garda apartment. As I promised to help, I prepared Cous-cous Spicy Green Thai Chicken and vegetables, Seafood Salad and Focaccia with cherry tomatoes.

Started my day as early as 8am, went to the Supermarket to get all the ingredients. Came back and started cooking. It was a hot day, I was sweating like crazy… as what the weather forecast predicted the heat waved came from Africa! Oh dear….

After all the cooking, sweating and getting pissed off with the kittens (as usual they are making a mess!!!) I finally got myself together and put on my party dress and my dancing shoes! I’m ready to PARTY!!!!!

The evening went well even though i don’t know all o the but i made some new friends. The whole evening the guests compliments my food especially the cous-cous. Me and my man had to leave the party a bit early as we had an early start the next day for Regatta.
